Easy ratio helps gauge financial performance

Nearly half of nonprofits have giving increase
In years of high giving, as many as 65 percent of groups enjoyed an increase in giving -- and fewer than 25 percent had a decline. For the first six months of 2011, 44 percent saw an increase in donations from the year before, similar to 2010 figures.

Few nonprofits use social media to promote causes
Most nonprofits are knowledgeable about using Facebook, Twitter and other social media. But few are actually using them to promote their causes,a 2011 study has found. Only one in eight say they have a social media strategy. (12/19/2011)
